This time I am writing about a person I have never met in person. Which is unfortunate. I think a conversation with him would be very easy going, deep and pleasant.
Here is what I found out about this great musician.
In 2015 he received the prestigious Mercury Prize for his debut album „At Least for Now“.
His way to that moment was anything else than simple.
Benjamin’s story of life is fantastic, however, with a very difficult start. When he was a teenager he left his parent’s home because of a bad relationship to his father to crash at friend’s places whenever it was possible.
When he had enough of such an uncertain life in London, he bought with his last money, 60 GBP, a ticket for a plane to Paris.
In Paris Benjamin lived on housetops and hostels whenever he had enough savings. He made money by singing on the streets and in some bars.
In 2013 then he was invited to the „Later With Jools Holland“ show on BBC. Benjamin attended the show together with Sir Paul McCartney and the Arctic Monkeys.
After the show McCartney told Clementine to never stop pursuing his singing career.
Here is his beautiful song „London“.
